Click here to watch on YouTube, or click here to download MP4.

In this workshop, we discuss what to do with all the work that has piled up on your desk while you were in classrooms being an instructional leader.

You’ll learn the three components of high performance, and you’ll see several examples of how you can ensure that you have complete systems in place for accomplishing your work with great efficiency.

In case you’ve missed any of our previous workshops, here’s everything we’ve offered so far:

  1. Watch the introductory session to familiarize yourself with the Challenge
  2. Watch the TeachBoost training session with Jill
  3. Fill out the TeachBoost account setup form
  4. Watch Workshop #1 with Justin to learn powerful strategies to get into classrooms more and provide great feedback to teachers
  5. Watch Workshop #2 to learn more about qualitative data, and how to program the robot to make more of your work happen on autopilot, so you can focus on your work in classrooms.

More soon…stay tuned!

Productivity Workshop #2

Buenos Dias Instructional Leaders,
Thanks for being part of the Challenge! We had our 2nd productivity workshop last night, and it was great to engage with everyone who could join live.

In this workshop, we talked about:

  • The three tiers of the Challenge, and the possibilities that emerge when you can deliver high-quality feedback to every teacher, every week
  • The kinds of data you’ve probably been collecting in your walkthroughs—without realizing it (and why this data is just as important as any quantitative data you’re collecting)
  • How to “program the robot” to make more of your work happen on autopilot, so you can devote your attention to what matters most

Here’s the workshop recording

If you can’t get to YouTube, here’s a Dropbox download link (MP4 video file, 78MB)

Bonus: The Robot & the Future File

I thought I would also include an excerpt from one of my recent High-Performance Instructional Leadership Network workshops, called High-Performance Workflow, as a bonus video. This clip does a better job of explaining “the robot” and gives an example for handling paper documents that you’ll need in the future, but don’t need to have on your desk in the meantime.

Record Your Commitment

If you haven’t committed to a tier of the Challenge, we’d love to have some data on what feels appropriate to you.

Reminder: Workshop #2 Wed 9/25 @ 6pm Central

Dear Instructional Leaders,
The Challenge is well underway, and I’m excited to share Workshop #2 with you Wednesday afternoon, 9/25 at 6pm Central Daylight Time, GMT -5.

In this workshop, we’ll look at some data about what tier of commitment people are choosing (if you haven’t committed yet, it’s just one multiple-choice question – see below). You’ll be surprised and encouraged!

From there, we’ll move into a crucial question:

Now that I’m getting into classrooms and collecting data, what do I do with it?

I’ll challenge the dominant perspective on walkthroughs a bit when we reach this topic. I want to support you in making the most of your walkthroughs, and that means looking a bit differently at the data you collect. I think you’ll get a lot out of this section.

Then, we’ll talk a bit more about productivity in the work of leadership, which is the focus of my research and professional work. I’ll share what I believe is a key understanding for instructional leaders who want to perform at a high level, and what you can do to put this understanding into practice immediately.

I hope you can join us! We’ll be recording in case you can’t, and we’ll have the recording available late Wednesday night. You should get a link on Thursday morning. But do join live if you can—it’s a lot more enjoyable!

Thanks for being part of the Instructional Leadership Challenge! We held our first full workshop on Wednesday afternoon, and the recording is posted below.

  • How to overcome the barriers and make time to be in classrooms

  • The #1 mistake principals make when scheduling time to be in classrooms (you’ll want to avoid this mistake or you’ll fail virtually every time!)

I also challenge you to accept one of 3 tiers of the Challenge:

Tier I

3-5 classroom visits a day
Encouragement and “noticing”
Develop a habit of presence
Build classroom rapport

Tier II

4-5 classroom visits a day
Specific feedback
